CARE + HANDLING

➜ Oriental lilies can generally remain dry-packed in the cooler 1–2 days if necessary, but of course prefer prompt conditioning when possible
➜ Allow at least 6 hours of hydration before designing, though overnight conditioning is ideal to encourage additional buds to begin cracking
➜ Remove any foliage that will sit below the water line to help maintain clean buckets and extend vase life
➜ Oriental lilies perform beautifully in both fresh water arrangements and properly saturated floral foam
➜ Keep stems upright in tall buckets during conditioning—blooms will become increasingly top-heavy and bulky as they open
➜ As each bloom opens, gently remove the pollen-bearing anthers before they begin shedding to help prevent stains on petals, clothing, linens, and finished arrangements
➜ If pollen does get onto fabric or petals, avoid wiping it away—instead, gently lift it off with adhesive tape or the round end of a folded fuzzy pipe cleaner wire before it becomes embedded
➜ If you'd like more buds to open before an event, move fully hydrated stems to a slightly warmer room a day or two before designing
➜ Keep finished arrangements cool whenever possible to slow bloom progression and enjoy each bloom for as long as possible

FAQ's

Why are my lilies arriving mostly closed?
➜ That's exactly how they're should arrive—Oriental lilies are harvested in bud form so the flowers open gradually after hydration, keeping their delicate petals securely protected during transport, and giving you the longest possible vase life
When should I remove the pollen?
➜ As soon as the anthers become visible and before they begin releasing pollen—removing them early is one of the easiest ways to prevent stubborn yellow-orange stains on flowers, clothing, and table linens
Can Oriental lilies be used in floral foam?
➜ Absolutely—once fully conditioned, they perform beautifully in properly saturated floral foam for bouquets, centerpieces, and large event work
Are Oriental lilies fragrant?
➜ Very much so—they're among the most fragrant cut flowers available, making them a wonderful choice when fragrance is part of the floral experience
Why do some stems have more buds than others?
➜ Natural variation is completely normal—bud count depends on the variety, stem grade, and growing conditions, but each stem is selected to provide an impressive floral display as it opens
What flowers pair well with Oriental lilies?
➜ Oriental lilies pair beautifully with hydrangea, stock, roses, lisianthus, snapdragons, and premium greenery; their dramatic blooms make them a natural fit for romantic, classic, sympathy, and formal event designs
